Rio is a current Post Graduate Researcher at the University of Liverpool.

Her PhD research bridges the fields of modernism, periodical studies, and feminist/queer theory. The working title of her thesis is 'Editing the Little Review: Queers, Cartoons, Conflict and Conversation'.  She serves on the committee for the European Society of Periodical Studies, and the organising committee of the Queer Modernism(s) Conference, most recently held at the University of Oxford in April 2018, and due to take place again in April 2019.  She teaches for the University of Liverpool on the BA English degree, on modules including Women Writers, Close Reading, Literature in Time, Modernist World, and British Writing from 1945. Rio is the Post Graduate Representative for the Department of English.

                                           This international project (based in Canada) set Finnegans Wake to music, in its entirely. I was invited to                                                           arrange and record chapter four, which was done in collaboration with Liverpool based performers.
